Gel Cycling glove Padding create bridges over Ulnar and Median nerves to prevent numb hands and cyclist palsy. Continued pressure on the ulnar nerve in the palm of the hand can cause cyclist palsy. Cyclist Palsy is a condition that can cause loss of feeling, tingling, numbness and pain in the hand and fingers that can last several months after a long ride. These same conditions could occur from neck spinal injuries see a doctor if you have these issues.

Core strengthen exercises are good to prevent numb hands and cyclist palsy caused by long hours of leaning on the handlebars.  Keeping a strong core helps not put as much pressure on the palms wile cycling. Also changing hand positions on the handle bar during long rides will help prevent hand finger numbness cyclist palsy.
Some ultra endurance bikepackers even use modifird aero bars to lean down on with there fore arms during long rides to prevent cyclist palsy by taking the weight off there hands.
